Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Vs. Note 2

There is little doubt that Samsung has brought about a revolution in the introduction of smart phones. It refuses to follow the conventions and have brought many innovations in the classic Smartphone production. Recently Samsung introduced a new addition in its family which is Samsung galaxy note 3. The phone is as marvelous as its predecessors and offers many new features

Following is the comparison between Samsung galaxy note 3 and note 2, their similarities, differences and features which would which phone merges successful and more popular among the people.

Design

The latest Samsung galaxy note 3 has an advantage in this aspect. In spite of having an exterior as large as note 2, Samsung has made the screen of note 3 even bigger, the former being 5.5 inches while note 3 is 5.7 inches. However this does serve as a disadvantage in usage of note 3 as the huge size makes it operating it with one hand impossible.

Galaxy note 2 was made up of plastic, while although the latest model is still made up of plastic, however, it is covered with faux leather.

Samsung galaxy note 2 was previously introduced in two colors, titanium gray and marble white, however now new colors are also available including ruby wine, pink, blue and amber brown. So far the galaxy Samsung note 3 is available in three different colors including jet black, blush pink and classic white.

Though the two phones are note poles apart when it comes to design, they do have quite a difference in their weight, Samsung galaxy note 3 is of 168g compared to 182g of note 2.

Display

With the increase in size of note 3, the display of this phone is slightly higher than that of note 2

Both the phones are multi touch with super AMOLED capacitive touch screen however there is difference in their resolution with note 3 having 1080 x 1920 pixels compared to 720 x 1280 pixels of note 2 which leads to better image quality in note 2 though still with some errors such as sharp and dark images.

S pen

A very glaring difference in the two phones is associated with the use of the s pen. The s pen of note 3 is significantly more sophisticated and sensitive.

An air command is presenting note 3 using which you have to press the s pen button and hover it over the screen following which you can have access to the menu. Note 2 follow the conventional way of taking a hand written note by capturing a screenshot.

Other than this difference, there is not a great deal of co0ntrast present in the interface of the two phones.

Battery

The output of note 3 is quite an improvement from note 2. Note 3 have 3200 mAh battery with standby time of 420 h and talk time of 21 h.

In contrast note 2 are equipped with battery of 3100 mAh accompanied by stand by time of 980 h and talk time of 35 h.

Camera

A big feature lacking in note 2 which is a part of note 3 is the presence of dual camera. There is also significant difference in the quality of image produced by these two. The camera of note 2 is 13mp with 3264×2448 pixels while that off note 3 is of 13 mp with 4128 x 3096 pixels.

Both have auto focus and LED flash with check quality and touch focus.

Both the phones have Hd video recording option, however note 3 is equipped with both slow motion as well as fast motion video recording capability.

Software:

Samsung galaxy note 2 was introduced with Android OS, v4.1.1 (Jelly Bean), upgradeable to 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) while note 3 is present with Android OS, v4.3 (Jelly Bean).

A huge innovation concerned with note 3 is the introduction of gear watch. This innovation is an extension of your smart phone which would enable you to perform simple tasks without having to take out your phone. It is absent in note 2.

Various apps

Samsung has introduced a number of apps and features in note 3 which were lacking in note 2 including region lock away, my magazine and action memo and scrap book. There are many more. In fact that is one problem with note 3. It is crammed with apps, much more than is usually required.

Final verdict

There is no denying that Samsung galaxy note 3 is an improvement in many areas from note 2 with many additional features and quality. If you are looking to buy a new phone, note 3 is definitely tempting if you can go across the hefty size and high price. But is you are the owner of note 2 and are comfortable with it there is little need to upgrade to note 3 too quickly. Only few alterations are present.
